Strengthening Public Health Education in Cambodia: Toward a Master's Program in Infectious Diseases
On June 17, 2025, the University of Health Sciences (UHS) convened a pivotal meeting to advance the development of a Master’s Degree Program in Infectious Diseases in Cambodia.
Co-chaired by H.E. Professor Saphonn Vonthanak, Rector of UHS, and Professor André Spiegel, Director of the Institut Pasteur du Cambodge (IPC), the meeting brought together key representatives from UHS, IPC, and partner institutions.
Several IPC scientists with extensive experience in infectious disease training also took part in this initial meeting, contributing to the definition of a strategic framework for developing a new curriculum.
The initiative reflects a major milestone in Cambodia, aiming to train future experts in infectious disease research, prevention, and outbreak response in Cambodia.
